Roast profile
  • Fresh Roasted Each Morning & Shipped in the Afternoon! Cup Characteristics: Sweet, mild cherry and creamy, luscious milk chocolate flavor nuances makes this coffee a complete and satisfying cup.
  • Nice mellow brightness and a very sweet tropical fruit note at the start moving into a creamy milk chocolate body with a hint of mild cherry. Hints of berry and honey throughout.
  • The soil, rich with volcanic ash, gives this coffee a smooth distinct body.
  • Hints of berry and honey throughout with a wonderful milk chocolate taste that is evident in freshly roasted coffee...yum, a very satisfying coffee treat!
  • The beauty of this cup really comes out well with the Pulped Natural (PN, honey processed) process.

One of our favorites is the El Salvador, Pulped Natural or “Honey” coffee beans. The Pulped Natural Process is becoming more popular in Central America for the sweet fruit note it imparts to the cup. The beauty of this cup really comes out well with the Pulped Natural (PN, honey processed) process: you get the even roast of a wet process with the fermented darker fruit notes of a dry process. Beans are grown under variety of shade trees in ideal setting for tree maturation--constant breezes, full sunshine and relatively cool, dry nights. What sets this coffee apart is the processing:to create pulped natural, as opposed to fully washed coffees, the coffee cherry skin is removed, but instead of the sticky mucilage underneath being washed off, the beans with mucilage intact goes directly to the drying patios and is dried, raked, dried some more. This is very labor intensive as the constant raking and turning of the sticky parchment is essential. What this lends to the coffee is a brighter and sweeter finish. When all the steps are preformed correctly the results are a slight increase in sweetness, body and aromatics traditionally found in natural processed coffee, and a milder acidity than we usually find in most washed coffees.

Did you know?:

Ground roasted beans lose their optimal flavor in about 2 days.
Whole roasted beans lose their optimal flavor in about 2-3 weeks.
If your coffee wasn't roasted just before you purchased it, chances are, it isn't fresh. The difference in flavor between fresh coffee and stale coffee is not subtle. Did you know that without fresh coffee, your espresso machine will have a hard time producing that thick crema you are trying so hard to achieve? Drip, French Press, Vacuum or espresso - every brewing method will produce better results with fresh coffee. That is why we custom roast to your order. Or try purchasing our carefully selected green beans and roast at home. When home roasting, best at medium to dark, however if you enjoy tasting the roast level vs. the beans nuances, then light roast is a very nice alternative in cupping.

Remember to store properly. Brew & Enjoy!

Please store properly in an air-tight container, away from light, moisture, extreme temperatures, & oxygen. Once the beans are transferred into an air-tight container, please store in a dark pantry or kitchen cupboard for maximum freshness dating to up to 8 weeks.

Fantastic

I had great hopes for this coffee. It did not disappoint. At medium roast, it is smooth and does have a cherry tinge at the finish. Simply delicious.

Thanks for the review! We're glad you enjoyed the coffee.

Delicious foundation for my morning Yeti Mug of Bulletproof Coffee!

This coffee has a nice mouthfeel and rich, delicious taste. My preference is a lighter roast and creamy finish and this hits the spot, perfectly!

Wonderful Natural Process That I will Buy Again!

This was an excellent replacement for the Bali Kintamani natural process. Will buy again! Love the distinct natural process taste in this coffee!

El Salvador Santa Ana Pulp Natural beans are beyond Delicious!

1st purchase of the El Salvador Santa Ana Pulp "honey" process has truly rocked my coffee bean world, and it and Rhoad's Roast have truly opened my 68 year old eyes and palate to one of the finest and spot on flavors and characters of honey, and light citrus, and as it finally cools down, it's really putting on a flavor bud part in my mouth,. I roast super small batches, have 2-3 day rest period after light to med. roast, take it just before the 1st crack phase is complete, it's so enjoyable to savor the delicous nose senses when you roast, and then when you grind, and then finally the real prime tasting is about to begin. I've done pour over, french press, I'm doing my new Bunn drip unit in the am, and finally using my parents old Revere wear copper bottom drip / perculator for the rest of my morning coffee enjoyment. thanks a million to Diane once again, and also the entire Rhoads Roast family
