This amazing Indonesian coffee is sweet and medium-bodied, Papua New Guinea coffee is prized for its richness and crisp, clean finish. Subtle, yet distinct chocolaty tones make this coffee a favorite among our customers. The Papua New Guinea coffee beans are versatile and brew up to make a distinguished cup of morning coffee, as well as a smooth after dinner coffee served with dessert. This unique coffee is grown in Papua New Guinea Highlands and was first planted in Wau in the 1930's from seeds imported from Jamaica's Blue Mountain region. Cultivated and harvested in the rugged mountains of Papua New Guinea at elevations of 1525-2125 meters, this area is also home to the albizza trees that were discovered in the 1930s which allow these coffee beans to capture their fruit-like essences to bring you a truly unique flavor. We roast orders in small batches of this Papua New Guinea coffee in order to produce a smooth-tasting and well-balanced cup with a crisp finish. Try a cupping of this gourmet coffee to experience the complex flavors of this exotic region...excellent coffee!

The quality control of the farm begins in the field. Cherries of the coffee are hand-picked and painstakingly checked for uniformity. It must be red and fully ripe which is necessary to obtain the correct balance of sugar and acid within the cherry. The selected cherries are then pulped on the same day of picking and the fermentation process follows with a period of three days broken every 24 hours by washing. Unlike most other coffees, the milling process of the PNG peaberry follows this by total immersion in water for an extra day. This creates an amazingly superior coffee. Sun drying further enhances the coffee and, unlike many other green coffees from this region, this Jikawa Western Highland Peaberry coffee is sun dried.

mehhhh

I don’t know if it’s because I ordered light roast instead of medium roast but the coffee is pretty bland. So I don’t know if it’s the way I ordered it or if it’s the coffee not sure if I’ll try it again but I was glad that it’s available. Who knows maybe I’ll take a chance to get the meeting house next time.

Hello,
The medium roast, black, no additives is definitely better in our opinion. Try the medium next time, much flavorful and fuller bodied. The medium/dark is very nice too though liking darker roasted coffees is a must!
Thank you,
RRC
