  • What a fun coffee to drink! The aroma displays spice and nuts. Great for espresso, lattes, or any cup at any time of day.
  • The flavor brings in a big nutty dimension, tempered by flavors of caramel and chocolate.
  • Fresh Roasted Each Morning & Shipped in the Afternoon! The body is smooth and syrupy.
  • This finish gives a very nice lingering caramel flavor - very good! Excellent body, smooth finish, a remarkable South America cup with great diversity too!
  • Brazil Cerrado Coffee Beans: 100% Arabica and the highest grade of the famous Brazilian beans, lively and inviting with a smooth, sweet taste.

Brazil Cerrado Coffee Beans: the highest grade of the famous Brazilian beans, lively and inviting with a smooth, sweet taste. Beans from the Cerrado region have cupped better than those from the Santos region. Cerrado is a huge region in Brazil, meaning "savanna", or central plateau. Coffee grown in this region is cultivated at an altitude of 200-500 meters above sea level--quite a bit lower than our Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) Central American Coffees. Because Cerrado is a softer bean, some roasters think it shouldn't be roasted overly dark. Other Roasters thinks Cerrado should be roasted dark, but watch out for scorching. Dark roasting brings out an exceptional nutty flavor and enhances the body of the coffee. Our Cerrado is a traditionally natural dry processed coffee. This method creates a complexity of flavors. Brazilian coffees make excellent bases for some very intriguing blends, particularly in espresso. A lot of the very best espresso blends have a Brazilian base. Many of the finest Italian espresso blends are mostly Brazilian coffee. It will add body and sweetness to your blend, and helps form a wonderful crema in your espresso. Since it is a dry processed coffee, it may roast a bit unevenly, but this only adds to the complexity in the cup. It actually makes a fine cup on it's own. Hardness of the Bean: Moderately dense--softer than high grown Central American coffees. Roasting: Start with a Full City to Full City + (Medium to Medium Dark). Because Brazilian coffees tend to be grown at lower elevations than Central American coffees, the bean is not as hard so approach it with a gentler roast profile until you get accustomed to it. This coffee benefits from an extended rest (72+ hours). Recommendation: For people who enjoy coffee with lots of body and low acidity. The lower acidity means virtually no "bite". Again, this is a superb coffee for Italian style espresso, either single origin, or as a majority of a blend.

Why Am I the Way That I Am?!?

This is hard to write.

I have only been into coffee for a few years (late bloomer) and my hard core, big-time, intense coffee buddy has always been *a wee bit* disappointed in me because I absolutely hate fruity, floral, girly rainbow flavored beans. Give me some glorified dirt and I'm good to go! And give it to me in at least a medium dark / full city roast. DON'T LEAVE ANY GRASS FLAVOR!

I have religiously only ordered two kinds of coffee from Rhoads Roast for 2-3 years now: my all-time favorite: Indo-Pacific Java Kayumas, and my #2 pick, Peru Approcassi. Nothing else ever worked for me.

UNTIL NOW.

On a whim, I decided to throw in 2 lbs of this Brazil stuff with my regular order at the suggestion of the website (thanks alot, Rhoads!!!). I figured, even if I hate it, my wife will drink it ;-) LOL. Even worse than ordering something new, I was forced to order a mere "medium roast". I was not at all optimistic.

Fast forward a week to grinding my first cup of the stuff. And this is where the story gets painful. Hard to talk about. Difficult to admit.

This new coffee tasted like something more complex. More fresh. More bright. It still wasn't fruity (OR, THANK GOODNESS, SPARE US ALL: FLORAL). But it was a small step more in that direction than my usuals.

AND I LIKED IT :-(((( (COL.....insert tears here). I was immediately stunned at my own perceived unfaithfulness to the "dark stuff." I felt ashamed. Embarassed. Alone.

I did the only thing I could: texted my snooty big time coffee buddy to let him know I suspected that I was not me anymore. His response?? A curt comment about my increasing maturity and growth as a human!!! How dare he?!?!? I wanted sympathy here, not "I told you so"! But what did I expect from a high end, big time coffee connoisseur?

Alas. Here I am now. Changed. And very likely......still changing.

Maybe my story can help save someone else. Let it be a warning to all you bona fide dirt drinkers out there: if you hope to stay that way forever, uncompromising, firm, stalwarts standing against the tide of culture, society, and world history, then do one thing........

DON'T TRY THE BRAZIL STUFF!!!!!

(PS: Thank you, Rhoads Roast! You are the best and I love you. Especially lvoe that that you truly offer free nationwide shipping, even to us poor Alaskans, not just to the coagulous 48.)

Always efficient and fast in getting roast bean orders out. Thanks.

We got this free with order Brazil Cerrado Arabica special and happy we did. Too light a roast for us but we mixed it with the med/dk Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and it's wonderful for our taste buds.

My favorite fresh roasted Arabica beans

We love that these are fresh roasted Arabica coffee beans that we can get delivered quickly after that have been roasted. The fresh ground coffee aroma when they arrive is so wonderful!! My husband who is normally satisfied with store bought coffee that has been sitting sitting on the shelf for who knows how long, has learned what a difference quality beans can make. He now reminds me to put in our order before we run out!
