First, allow us to say that this coffee is certified Awesome and we are proud to make this offering available to you! Now about the coffee:
Antigua Guatemala is famous for its coffee. At only 28 miles from Guatemala City, Antigua is located between three volcanoes: Acatenango, Fuego and Agua. This region has been known for a long time for producing coffees of the best quality in the world. The privileged weather, altitude, volcanic soils and traditional agricultural practices contribute to the elaboration of one of the best coffees in the world.
Antigua´s genuine coffee offers a cup that perfectly combines body, taste and aroma. It is internationally acclaimed for its unique characteristics: fragrance, floral aroma, light body and balance, mild notes of chocolate, good taste and acidity levels.

Nestled among three volcanoes, the city of Antigua’s fertile soil and high altitudes makes it a prime location for producers like Finca Medina. The farm has been producing specialty coffee since 1842, and has grown to have two estates - one named after the organization itself and the other called Anexo Portal. Both farms utilize cutting edge processing technology, contributing to each coffee’s consistency and quality. This washed-processed Guatemalan coffee includes cherries from the original Finca Medina estate plus Anexo Portal. After separating the floating cherries, the coffees are dried on raised African beds, which are closed off each day for two hours to ensure a slow maturation process - typically between 28 and 30 days. The superb growing conditions and allowance of time for processing created a deep sweetness and a complex flavor experience in the coffees from Finca Medina.
Coffee crops use only the best coffee grafts that come from certified seeds and are grown under shadow. This region is perfect for cultivating coffee; with ample rainfall, elevations reaching 4,600 feet, and a constant humidity of 65%, it makes absolute sense for coffee to be the number one industry in Guatemala.
Finca Medina boasts the soft suggestion of fruit that growing, milling, and processing yields, and the brightness and sweetness that is characteristic of the origin. This coffee is set apart from many among our Central American offerings, thanks to the fermentation, milling, and overall processing and to the complexity that all of this introduces to the cup. This isn't the first time we've featured this coffee, and we don't expect it to be the last.
