I have tried several varieties of green coffee beans for roasting. The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Misty Valley is one of our favorites as it has the complexity of an African coffee, with fruity undertones. I will sometimes give my friends a gift of freshly roasted coffee and this is the one they rave about the most.
I first tasted a Misty Valley Ethiopian coffee last year when traveling. This is the first time I tasted a coffee which was so forward with blueberry flavor. I've only roasted a single 12oz sample batch, but I immediately was taken back to the first time I had a Misty Valley coffee once I ground the beans. I used a profile that worked well for a Kenyan varietal and this responded very well. Excited to have more fun with this one and cups to enjoy. A buddy of mine swore someone was sneaking blueberry juice into his coffee as it cooled down towards room temp.
